Welcome to Parkhead CC online

Parkhead Congregational Church exists to share the love of God in Jesus Christ.

As a church of God's people we seek to do this by our witness of love for one another, and our service to the community of Parkhead.

Hope you have taken the tour of our new halls (see photo section), and are as impressed as we are. Every time we enter the place it is hard to believe we have got to this stage. “This stage” however, is only half way – we are now turning our attention to the interior of the church . It would be a shame to have such a wonderful suite of halls, alongside a “patched up” worship area, so we are taking time to ensure that the whole church building is suitable for the work of God’s kingdom for years to come.
As with the halls, it is not easy to see change to familiar surroundings, but God never asked us to become comfortable and cosy in our “protected” buildings, and certainly the original planners would not have dreamed of allowing nothing to change in well over 100 years! They were forward thinkers, meeting the needs of the area in their time, and we have to do nothing less if we are to honour the work they have done.

The long wooden seats (pews) have been removed to allow more practical use of the area, without the limitations of fixed seats. The organ pipes, which were tilting at both sides have been removed - as has the “inners” of the organ brought to the church in the 50’s or early 60’s, but never connected up as a pipe organ. The raised area which the choir used has been lifted so that the floor can be extended and the pulpit (if kept) can be pushed back. The only stain glass window we have is now seen from anywhere in the building. We also plan to make the vestibule wall (the one you see as you enter the church) a glass wall so that light can flood in , and the interior of the church will be visible to all.

Some of the men in the church have taken on the task of this basic “clearing” work, and are just about ready to let the heating/ electrics/ plastering etc be started. As usual, it is finances which have stopped us in our tracks, but it is not the first time that Parkhead Congregational Church has stepped forward in faith and found the words surrounding the rose window to be true … “Hitherto hath the Lord helped us”.

Continue to pray for us, that we may be led by God, to make the best use of what He has given to us, and that we will continue to have the faith to trust that He will provide.

Take a look in the picture section, but be warned – it doesn’t look pretty just now.

Announcements

PCC read the Word of God!!

As from Sunday 2nd August almost 30 people have signed up to follow a reading plan each day that will take us through the whole Bible in one year. There will be many temptations to give in (especially with some of the lists of names) but we pray that God will richly bless those who have made this commitment, and give us the desire to hear Him.

New Website Under Construction

We have a new website under construction at the moment. The address will stay the same but soon our site will look a whole lot better.

Watch this space.....
